Don't talk about crime sprees to strangers, got it.

[Emma twists to keep looking at him as he moves and talks, though at this point it really would be easier to get off the car and walk away and here she is. Making things difficult. Waits five, ten, fifteen seconds and okay, she's sliding off now because he seems to be serious about leaving and she's serious about not being hit by a car.]

Are you going to offer me a ride or...?

[Didn't you just call him a stranger, Emma what is wrong with you.]

( Emma is just super committed to not getting hit by cars. gotta really admire her sticking to those guns. to be fair, being hit by cars isn't great. in another life, he'd likely get to know that very well. in this one, he could only assume. no being hit by cars for this guy, he probably hadn't even managed to jaywalk properly.

he's rather blown away by the audacity of the request, and even stops to stare at her like she's a bit off in the head. frankly, the girl very well might be. she's breaking into the brewery for no particular reason, apparently, teasingly announcing interest in committing more crime, and then she's inviting herself into the car of a stranger. not a real strong sense of self preservation, this one.

he should tell her no. it's not appropriate, to have a strange man drive a young girl home. even if she is a delinquent that would probably break into the brewery again if he just left her behind. that's not really what makes him say yes, though. it's the way she behaves, the spark of unexpected in everything he's already memorized. he'd never have expected her to invite herself to a ride, and something compels him to follow her lead.
)

Get in. ( he suggests it, then lifts his brows and watches her with pale eyes, almost like he's daring her to brave it. definitely not the sort of stranger you should take rides from, Emma — even though he'd pretty convincingly played the part of harmless even a second ago. in the flash of the moment, there's a glimmer of something a little more lively. )

[It's definitely not appropriate. She doesn't know him. She tried to steal from his work. He's an older, handsome man who can both play dumb and give her a look that makes her shiver. She has no idea what his name is and yet--

It's Storybrooke. If there's one thing she's learned here, in a town of two stoplights and main street that closes at six every night and white picket fences with their 2.5 kids, it's that there's not much danger lurking around this small town. The most hostile anyone's been is the Mayor who glares at her from across the street and makes snide comments about her parents. Well her foster dad. Apparently she loves Kathryn and that just baffles Emma to be honest.

David tells her that Regina is like that with most everyone. To which Emma asked why everyone keeps voting for her. And he didn't have a good answer.

She helps herself to the passenger side of the car, even puts her seatbelt on like a good citizen.]

My name's Emma. By the way.
